They told all of their friends and word soon got around. It wasn't long before people were asking if Sam was
starting up a troupe in the area. After a lot of persuasion from young girls, a few enquiries were made, and with a building available 2 nights
a week, We decided to give it a go.
No-one had any training experience, so we started slowly with an easy routine and not a lot of pressure
on the girls. By January 2002, we had around 30 members and parents began to get involved too. We started
fundraising for the troupe and eventually raised enough to buy batons, pom-poms and our uniforms.
In may 2002 after a lot of hard work, the troupe had their first real show at a local gala, and in August,
their first competition. The girls were excellent in both and still continue to improve at each display.
We are all very proud of them.
At the end of August we had our first presentation evening where we honoured our most hardworking and dedicated
majorettes. The parents were also thanked for their help and Sam was presented with numerous gifts from the troupe.
We also enlisted the help of a new trainer, Rachel. All involved had a great night!
We are now into our 5th year and now have over 50 members.
There are currently four teams within the troupe, based on age: Novices (Ages 8 and under), Tinies (Ages 11 and under), Juniors (Ages 14 and
under) and Seniors (Open Age). We perform using various equipment, including batons, pom-poms, flags, ribbons and mace, in both dance and
military styles.
We are once again looking forward to a summer of exciting displays and
showcasing our troupe in more competitions. If you would like to see the Silver Silhouettes performing at your event, or if you
